Harvey Nichols' eighth-floor bar and brasserie with a terrace pointed dead at St Paul's, doing cocktails and modern British plates 50 metres above the water. Fair because Blackfriars runs on Thameslink — the north-south line — and its platforms literally straddle the Thames, so both camps arrive feeling clever. Useful detail: the view is free if you're only drinking, so there's no need to commit to the pricier restaurant to watch the sun drop behind the dome. Book the bar terrace ahead in summer.
