Why the Parkland Walk for a walk and a pint
Parkland Walk is London's longest linear nature reserve: the old railway from Finsbury Park to Highgate, with ghost platforms at Crouch End. Highgate tunnels are closed, so the walk ends at Holmesdale Road.
This is a linear catalogue walk, not a Heath or Richmond Park network. Meet at a named entrance, walk the cutting, then hop to a pub at either end or around Crouch Hill.

- Oxford Road is the Finsbury Park start. Blythwood Road / Crouch Hill suits a Crouch Hill hop-off. The ghost platforms are the mid-walk landmark. Holmesdale Road is the Highgate end (steep). Text the pin, not “the Parkland Walk.”
- Which pubs are near the exits?
- Faltering Fullback sits near the Oxford Road start; Stapleton Tavern is the open Crouch Hill pint (the Old Dairy closed in May 2026); Wooden Cross, King's Head and Railway Tavern serve the ghost-platform exit; Woodman and Boogaloo sit on Archway Road at Highgate. Confirm the last stretch on the day.
- Are the Highgate tunnels open?
- No. The Highgate tunnels are closed. The walk ends at Holmesdale Road on the Highgate side.
